Editing

To edit footage, there's 4 main steps: dump the footage, import it, edit it, then export it. To dump footage, you first create a folder to keep all your stuff in. Then, you put the SD card in the reader and insert the reader into the USB port. Transfer everything that belongs to you on the SD card to the computer and save it in the folder. To find your stuff, click dcim and select your stuff. If it's not in dcim, it should be accessible in the avchd folder. To access this go to private, and select avchd. Now, on to importing.
To import, first you have to load the program. Open Pinnacle Studios and go to the edit screen. Click file then click new movie. Click import, then click the plus sign (always wait for everything to load). Find your folder, then select everything you want to import and de-select anything that's not yours. Once everything is selected, press import. Next, you edit.
To edit, you drag the raw footage to av track 2 in the order you want it shown. Wait for the orange line to turn green, then press the play button or the space bar to play or pause the footage. You can double click the footage to expand it. To cut off parts, drag the orange line to right before where you want the new part to start, then click the razor blade. You can right click to edit the speed or reverse footage. If you go to editor, any changes you want to be made can be made there. To do a voice over, get rid of the sound on the clip you want to insert the voice over on, then click the audio you want and put it on the clip. Save the clip to your folder then complete the final stage: exporting.
To export the footage, make sure the file is an mpg4, minimize the window, and let pinnacle render the footage. Watch the video before turning it in to make sure everything is the way it was intended to be.
